Ghulam Nabi Sumji Chaired 'Hurriyat (G) Executive Body Meeting' | KNO

Srinagar, march 11  (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference Executive Body on Sunday held a meeting which was presided over by general secretary Ghulam Nabi Sumji.

The participants reviewed and discussed the prevailing grim situation in state including, continuous house detention of Syed Ali Geelani, snails paced proceedings and investigation in rape and murder of minor Asifa’s case, the increasing human rights abuses and denial of political space for resistance leadership by authorities. Since past eight years, Syed Ali Geelani has been barred from offering religious obligations, statement said and added that more contingent of police were deployed and no one was allowed to meet Geelani.

Demanding impartial probe and stringent action against those accused in murder and rape of Kathua minor girl Asifa, the executive council blamed authorities for providing shield and lenient view for those involved in this heinous crime. Paying tributes to youth slain in Shopian and other places, Huriyat said that despite all hardships our sacrifices would yield desired results and will see the dawn of freedom set in, saying these brave hearts are facing a big power and lay their lives to end the age-old slavery of their nation. They are putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders to honor these sacrifices and take the movement to its logical end,”.

Blaming Indian Leadership for their haughty and egoistic approach, Hurriyat said that despite India utilizing all its resources & military might during the last 70 years, the issue is there and not an iota of change seems (to have happened). We urge the International Community to take cognizance of the gross and systematic violations of human rights taking place in Jammu and Kashmir and use its influence with India to bring an end to brutal killings and strangulating genuine voices, Hurriyat said .

The world community must also play its rightful role in facilitating talks between Pakistan ,India and Kashmir and find a just and lasting solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, added Hurriyat ,saying this will save south Asia from war horrors and devastations . Participants expressed deep grief over the demise of maternal aunt of Gh Ahmad Gulzar and extended condolences to grieved family.

The meeting was attended by Ghulam Nabi Sumji (Muslim Conference), Hakim Ab Rashid, Gh Mohd Nagu, Syed Mohd Shafi, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Mohd Yasin Ataie, Kh Firdous Wani, Bilal Sidiqee, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Mohd Shafi Lone, Mohd Yusuf Naqash, Shaheen Iqbal and Zamrooda Habib.(KNO)
